Engineering Partnership - West Coast Network Outcome Contract.png

The West Coast Network Outcomes Contract (NOC) is New Zealand’s longest and arguably most challenging – traversing 878 kilometres of highway, from Haast Pass in the south to Mokihinui in the north.

The isolated nature of the West Coast means partnerships were key. This NOC consistently showed how Waka Kotahi, Fulton Hogan, WestReef, WestRoads MBD, WSP, the three local authorities – Westland, Buller and Grey District, and the Department of Conservation, as well as the seven subcontractors, partnered to provide support to communities most in need.

From storms, flood damage to the parochial expectations of stakeholders – through to major damage causing destruction to bridges and infrastructure, this contract has it all. The relentless commitment day after day after day to deliver outstanding service on a long-term basis has seen this NOC establish benchmarks in performance that’s underpinned by great teaming and partnerships.

Collaboration, innovation, dedication, improvement of management systems, development of staff through training, enhancing customer/stakeholder information, and contribution to the community, has seen this project excel.

The NOC team vision is – “One team making a difference to keep the Coast safely connected.”
