YOUNG ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

A young engineer who has a passion for community, thrives on leading others and their work and makes New Zealanders’ lives better.

To be envied

  • Demonstrated excellence in the nominee’s career to date, including notable achievements, and involvement in any significant projects.

  • Dedication to the development of the nominee’s career as an engineer, including leadership potential, goal-setting, and positive contribution to their professional community.

  • Finalists will be interviewed by the judging panel as part of the judging process and must show great communication skills.

Criteria


  • Entries are open to individuals

  • New Zealand citizen or permanent resident

  • A qualified engineer from any of the broad fields

  • Aged 31 or younger on 28 February 2021

  • Have not been a recipient of the award previously under the Engineering New Zealand or IPENZ awards

  • Finalists must be available for an interview with the judging panel

  • Does not have to be an Engineering New Zealand member


Judging Criteria


  • Vision – leadership and influencing skills

  • Opportunity – an understanding of how their work can impact and contribute to society

  • Delivery – excellence in a significant engineering project, activity or body of work

  • Impact – brilliance in communicating ideas
